10 Things You Need To Bring to Your Photoshoot

You’ve booked your hair and makeup artist, secured your studio or location space, found the perfect outfits for the shoot. Now it’s time to pack! Whether you’re traveling or shooting in-studio, there are a few must-haves that every model should have with her before she steps foot on set.

1) Hair brush – hair can get crazy even without wind whipping through it! A hair brush will help keep things tame and tangle-free.

2) Matt powder – this is an especially important item if you’re shooting outside because of shine from the sun! We recommend keeping matt power handy during any photoshoot. It’ll decrease chances of making unwanted shininess on camera too 😉

3) Lipstick and lip balm – even if you’re not wearing any other makeup, a pop of lipstick will brighten up your face and give the photographer something to work with. Dry lips in photos are not a good look! Vasaline reduces dryness whilst lipstick draws attention to & defines your lips. A little Vasaline is also great in an emergency for smoothing errant hairs.

4) Kirby Grips – these are essential for hair emergencies!

5) Compact Mirror – Essential for shoots on location that may not have washroom facilities for you to check your appearance before you pose in front of the camera.

6) Hair ties – hair can get in the way during a shoot, so it’s good to have hair ties on hand.

7) Props & Acessories – Remember to bring any props you may need for the photos on your shot list. For example a laptop, notebook & pen, coffee mug, hats, scarves, jackets sunglasses, jewellery… Anything that will bring a little personality to your photos & enable us to create a different look & feel to your images.

8) Water – staying hydrated is key, especially when you’re working hard. Bring a water bottle to your shoot and make sure to drink up!

9) Snacks – if you’re on set for an extended period of time, it can be helpful to have snacks. And bring some Mints/gum for afterwards it’s always nice to freshen up!

10) Phone/charger – to capture all the behind-the-scenes moments, bring your phone and charger to set.

This concludes our list of ten things you need to bring with you on your next photoshoot! We hope this article was helpful and gave you some ideas for what to pack. If you have any questions or want more information, be sure to check out our blog or contact us directly. Thanks for reading! 🙂
